Antivirus Solutions
Antivirus protection software blocks malware that could infiltrate the electronic systems of a company to take, misuse or destroy data. It is compatible with a wide range of devices that include laptops, desktops and mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones as well as connected home devices such as smart TV and printers.
Modern antivirus solutions employ multiple detection methods to block one virus. Signature-based detection is a popular method. This involves scanning files for matches and maintaining a database with distinct code snippets known as malware signatures. If attackers modify malicious code to evade detection by signatures, they’re considered polymorphic and need more advanced detection methods.
A more sophisticated method is heuristic-based detection. It attempts to identify malware by identifying patterns that are specific to malicious code, for example, modifying and deleting large amounts of data, changing the settings of other programs, or remotely connecting to computers. Heuristic-based detection can cause security alert fatigue and should be carefully tuned to avoid false positives.
Look for a robust antivirus program that is able to deal with polymorphic malware, ransomware, memory attacks and other advanced threats. It should be simple to install on a range of devices, including Macs and Windows PCs. It should also run on different operating systems. Lastly, it should not use up too many system resources, as this could reduce the performance of an individual device or cause computer crashes.
